Our new page gives information on, and links to, places of interest in and around Presteigne. We are extending our History Page to cover the surrounding area, and this will be posted shortly as we are still researching the information.
The Official Presteigne Web Site: A good place to start, the site lists some places of interest, local businesses, organisations and other local facts and figures. They provide a ‘Town Trail’ map (previewed above) which you can download directly from here.
Wikipedia also has a some interesting details, and due to the nature of the site it is continually growing. They have a page on Radnorshire as well, and is a recommended read.
Most of our historic research comes from the above pages, and two other useful resources: The Judge’s Lodging, web site of the local Victorian Museum, and thePowys Heritage On-Line Project, a magnificent reference (in English and Welsh) with many old photographs.
The Presteigne Business Directory is a new site which aims to provide free advertising to help promote local businesses, and we are proud to support this worthwhile venture.
Whilst the Hotel is in Powys in Wales, it is literally yards from England and the counties of Herefordshire and Shropshire.
This information will continue to grow over the coming months. If you have a recommendation for a site, or further information that you feel you may be of interest to our visitors, please contact us via our ‘Webmaster’.
